“In Roman culture, during the first century, when baby girls were born and unwanted, the parents would take the baby to the outskirts of the city and leave her there. People could hear the baby cry from the city, and two different groups would run out to get the baby. One group would be the owners of the brothels; the second would be the believers in Jesus Christ. Early Christians would run, rescue, and care for that child.”
When looking down through history, whenever you see the downtrodden, the orphaned, the widowed, the hurting, the abused and misused; You will find believers there to love and care for them as the Savior cared. This comes from knowing and believing Christ first loved them. This comes from heart that is inclined to God and His Word. They see the value in people, because God saw/sees the value and potential in them!
“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.”
Isaiah 43:4 KJV
Where does human value come from? How are we no better than a cat or dog?
Our value comes from the truth that we are made in God’s image. We have His fingerprint on our souls!
Sir Isaac Newton said, “In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of God's existence.”
“God has put His fingerprint on us and has said that we are created in His image.”
He loves you!
He even likes you!
He has a plan for you!
His thoughts of you are more than the sands on a shore!
A popular saying:
“You wouldn’t worry what people thought of you if you knew how seldom they did.”
This is true!
But not true of God!
Nobody thinks of your more than God!
Do you ever have days when you don’t *feel precious* to anyone, not even God?
Days when ALL you feel is tired, overwhelmed, overworked, and under appreciated?
Health problems
Relationship struggles
Home responsibilities
Church responsibilities
Job pressure
Financial issues or pressure
One misfortune right after the other
And Sometimes, you pray and the heavens feel like they are made of brass.
You are not alone in this feeling!
We all feel this at times!
This is a crucial time of testing to know if we truly trust God.
This is a time we MUST NOT trust what we are feeling!
This is a time of proving.
This is a time of God searching our hearts.
This is the time we MUST trust and believe and take God at His Word.
We must trust and believe...
He is all knowing!
He is all caring!
He is all loving!
He is all faithful!
He is ever present!
And we ARE precious in His sight!
“Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”
Psalms 139:16-18 KJV
At the beginning of the chapter the Psalmist says, ““O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.”
Psalms 139:1
At the end of the chapter the Psalmist asks the Lord to search him and know him and to try his heart, after he realized how precious he is to God! This truth has changed his whole way of thinking!
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalms 139:23-24 KJV
Please take some time read and study Psalms 139 today!
