[Gen 24:27 KJV] 27 And he said, Blessed [be] the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I [being] in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren. (Emphasis by me)

I being in the way, this phrase stands out to me. This is uttered by Eleazar, servant of Abraham when he finds the family of his master.

Am I in a position to be led by the Lord? Most of the Christian life is living the truth you know. Especially in these very confusing days being in the way is especially important. If we are not in "in the way" during these trying times we run the risk of fulfilling another passage in scripture. [Mal 2:8 KJV] 8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

  1. I understand this passage in Malachi is speaking to the priests, but the principle still applies to the rest of us. When we are out "of the way" we don't just affect ourselves. This concept is reiterated again in the New Testament.

  2. [Rom 14:6-9 KJV] 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. 7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

The phrase also reminds me of the words of John in the first chapter of Revelation, [Rev 1:10 KJV] 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Are you consistently and purposefully putting yourself "in the way"? So much of what we do is based on habit. I know the Christian life should not be just, a series of wrote actions but purposefully making choices to serve God. However, some of the Christian must be a "learned behavior". It is that daily habit of being "in the way" that puts in a position to get answers from God. Not every day will be sunshine and roses, if you don't make "being in the way" part of your day when things are going well, you will not be in a position to hear from the Lord when you need it most.

For those who say, "how do I find the way" as Thomas did [Jhn 14:5-6 KJV] 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

,

  1. You can only find "the way" with God's help.

  2. If you had not put yourself in a position to be "in the way" before trouble found you, the biggest suggestion is going to the Father.

  3. [Jas 1:5-7 KJV] 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

After doing so many of these, I am reminded to pray for Pastors. It takes a lot out of me to do these. I imagine it is just as mentally and spiritually draining to preach on a regular basis. And in these interesting times, those in authority, spiritually, governmentally or at places of employment need our prayer now more than ever(besides, we are commanded to: [1Ti 2:1-2 KJV] 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.)
