Faith leads to peace with God
We are supposed to Glory in tribulation, that’s hard to do.
The need for Gods grace in our life
Romans 5:1-2 (KJV) 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Our faith in God allows us to have peace with God, so often in the world we want the “fruit” of peace but we don’t want to “plant” the tree we want things our own way
Our faith allows us to rejoice in the Hope of the glory of God
Christ is returning when he does we will See the full glory of God
Do I recognize all that God has done and will do
Am I resting in that hope, do I rejoice in the promises of his Coming
Romans 5:3-5 (KJV) 3 And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
My flesh really doesn’t like this verse
Without the faith that is reiterated in 5:1 this passage is impossible to live
If you cannot see the glory of God in your troubles, through the eyes of faith you will not be able to glory in your tribulations
That word your makes it very personal, yours are different than mine, but we are all able to rejoice in them, as we have “access by faith into this grace”
John 16:33 reminds us that in this world we will have troubles isn’t it better to face them with Faith,
Experience is another byproduct of trouble, how?
Was there ever another time in life where You had trouble and God took care of you
Do you look back on troubles in your life where you responded poorly and recognize how badly things went
I have looked at things in my life similarly to Grades in school
If you don’t learn the lessons in 5th grade you are supposed to learn, you have to repeat the grade, same thing in life, there are things that are allowed in are life that are hard, learn those lessons so you don’t have to keep going through it
As I have gone through difficult things, my prayer was and still is, help me to learn what you want me to learn so I don’t have to stay In this situation any longer than I have to
This concept of rejoicing in trouble is mentioned at least 2 other times
James 1:2-5 (KJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
1 Peter 1:6-7 (KJV) 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
I mention that only as this is in the Bible three times, I think we are supposed to pay attention, but without Faith you not be able to live this
Romans 5:6-8 (KJV) 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
In due time Christ died for the ungodly- due time, how do we know what due time is with God
This also goes back to the concept that we are chosen by God, nothing we can do to merit his sacrifice
So much of our Christian life is based on the due time of Gods will
Matthew 25:13 (KJV) Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
While we were yet sinners Christ died for us
We were not beneath Christ
Do I feel people are beneath me?
Romans 5:9-11 (KJV) 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only [so], but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
No matter how crazy things get here, whether from Coronavirus or politics or other things, if you have Christ you will not face gods wrath
We shall be saved through his life
Jesus Christ is the only religious founder to beat death
Because he Lives I can face tomorrow
How is your joy
If you are not grateful for Christ sacrifice for you, you will struggle with Joy
I have never seen someone who had Joy that was not grateful, the opposite is also true I have never seen someone who had no Gratefulness have Joy
Romans 5:15 (KJV) But not as the offence, so also [is] the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, [which is] by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
V 12 and the opposite have always struck me, because of one the human race is doomed, v15 because of one the human race has the chance to be redeemed
Romans 5:19-21 (KJV) 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
After reading this chapter and the preceding chapter how can anyone come to the conclusion that they can do anything for the redemption of their soul, aside from trusting in Christ
In addition how can we think that we can do anything to fully live the Christian life without the Grace of God in our life (21)
